Today I though'd I'd talk about why you may be feeling hungry all of the time.
If you find yourself hungry after eating, perhaps feeling ravenous in the evenings or find you wake up in the middle of the night needing a midnight snack... then keep reading as you'll get a lot out of what I have to share with you today!
There are 3 main reasons why you may be feeling hungry all of the time.
The first one being not consuming enough nutrition throughout the day.
If you are not eating enough of the right kinds of foods i.e. whole foods such as fruit, veggies, whole grains, legumes, beans, lean proteins and healthy fats.... then you're not consuming enough nutrients for the body to run optimally and this can cause you to feel hungry.
The second reasons is not eating consistently.
The body derives energy from nutrient rich foods which is needed for key bodily processes and chemical reactions that keep us alive. When we skip meals or eat inconsistently there is a lack of available energy for those key processes and reactions to occur and as a result the body will give us signs such as hunger, shakiness, tiredness/fatigue etc...
The third reason could be related to a condition i.e. diabetes, hyperthyroidism and hyperglycemia.
These conditions can cause you to feel overly hungry and managing them with specific diet and lifestyle changes can be greatly beneficial.
All in all, if you often experience hunger then start by focusing on:
Increasing your intake of whole foods - aim for your plate to include 50% veggies with some fruit, 25% lean protein and 25% healthy carbohydrates (inc. whole grains, legumes or starchy veggies)
Eat consistently throughout the day by having breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack and dinner
