I was thinking about what to write in this weeks newsletter and I though I'd write about something my clients often say to me, which is they find it hard to find healthy snacks! Especially ones that taste delicious and are easy to make.
I believe the reason why finding healthy snacks is perceived to be hard is due to being constantly tempted and surrounded by unhealthy snack options.
When we go to the supermarket, our local café or wonder past the bakery we are drawn into the temptation of chocolates, lollies, muffins, cookies, hot chips etc…
These unhealthy snacks are high in sugar, carbs and/or saturated fat and leave us wanting more as they lack substance and nutrients.
They also cause us to feel guilty after eating them, lethargic, bloated and can result in weight gain when had on a regular basis.
When it comes to healthy snacks, it’s best to look for snacks that are made fresh and contain whole foods such as veggies, fruit, nuts & seeds, whole grains etc…
Whole food snacks are high in nutrition and keep you fuller for longer. They do require some prep or cooking, however many can be made in bulk and even frozen so they last longer.
So if you have been feeling stuck for healthy snack ideas check out my top 5 favourite snacks below!
