Today I thought I'd touch on foods that help boost your mood as I think we can all do with a little of that right now.
Food has a powerful role in helping us lift our mood and improving our overall outlook on life.
In general there are 4 key things to consider when it comes to a healthy mood including:
ONE: Keep your blood sugar levels in check by eating regular meals consisting of complex carbohydrates, protein and fat. Also, avoid skipping meals or eating high sugar foods that send your blood sugar levels on a roller-coaster.
TWO: Consume quality protein with every meal and snack. Protein contains the building blocks for our neurotransmitters which will help balance and improve your mood.
THREE: Include quality fat in your diet to support the health and function of your brain and reduce any inflammation in the body.
FOUR: Make sure you’re consuming enough B vitamins as many serve as co-factors for neurotransmitter production and help reduce your stress levels. B vitamins will also help you maintain a healthy level of energy throughout the day.
To get you started I have created a free downloadable handout that includes 12 mood boosting foods.
